Resolution/Delegation of Authority- CDBG-DR Wastewater Effluent Disposal

body

REQUESTED MOTION:

To approve a Resolution authorizing the County Administrator to execute and submit documents necessary for the administration and implementation of the CDBG-DR MS010 Wastewater Effluent Disposal Project.

SUMMARY:

This Resolution authorizes the County Administrator to execute and submit documents for the administration and implementation of the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Agreement MS010 Wastewater Treatment Effluent Disposal Project. This authority includes, but is not limited to, reports, certifications, environmental documents, request for reimbursements and documents related to the administration required by the Florida Department of Commerce and applicable federal requirements.

BACKGROUND:

The State of Florida Department of Commerce has allocated CDBG-DR funding for infrastructure restoration and improvement projects in communities impacted by the 2023-2024 storms. DeSoto County has been awarded $8 million in CDBG-DR funding for the Wastewater Treatment Effluent Disposal Project pursuant to Grant Agreement MS010. Administration and implementation of the grant require the County to execute and submit various agreements, certifications, environmental documents, reports, requests for reimbursement, and other required documentation throughout the life of the project. The proposed resolution delegates authority to the County Administrator in the absence of the Chairman, to execute and submit these documents and take necessary administrative actions to accept and administer the grant and implement the project in accordance with applicable requirements.
