Interlocal Agreement / Hardee County Line Roads

REQUESTED MOTION:
Motion to approve the Interlocal Agreement in substantially the same form as presented.
SUMMARY:
A five-year Agreement, with 5-year renewable terms for the maintenance and notice requirements for roadways that border DeSoto and Hardee counties.
BACKGROUND:
DeSoto and Hardee Counties have had a long-term history of sharing in the maintenance, capital improvements, and future land development improvements for County Line Roads to include Lily County Road and Kinsey County Line Road both located west of US 17 (SR 35) and a portion of Ten Mile Grade that runs along the County line located east of US 17 (SR 35). The Counties have shared in the above stated since 1996. The Board approved a formal agreement that provided for a one-year period, to be extended by mutual agreement annually. The most recently adopted Agreement expired at the end of last year. The proposed agreement is substantially the same but provides for a 5-year initial term, with 5-year renewal options. The Agreement also provides for termination based on a 30-day notice from either County. The extended term is being proposed for administrative efficiency.
