REQUESTED MOTION:
To confirm the County Administrator’s appointment of Justin Smith to the position of Assistant County Administrator and approve the employment contract as presented.
SUMMARY:
All Department and or Division Directors will be appointed by the County Administrator and shall be confirmed by the Board of County Commissioners. Justin Smith has been selected by the County Administrator to fill the position of Assistant County Administrator with the Board approval.
BACKGROUND:
The Position of Assistant County Administrator was approved in the classification plan and in the current year budget. The position was advertised and the County Administrator interviewed four candidates and selected Justin Smith based on the interviews and identification of key skill areas. References have been checked and were positive without hesitation. The position will be utilized to assist the County Administrator in completing key tasks and managing key projects and initiatives to completion, freeing up time for the County Administrator to move additional items that are future looking and consistent with Board priorities. The Assistant County Administrator role differs from a Deputy County Administrator in practical application and will enhance the efficiency of the Department and the County.
