TITLE & DESCRIPTION:

title

Land Lease Renewal  / Shelfer Farms, LLC

body

REQUESTED MOTION:

Approve the five-year renewal of the Land Lease Agreement with Shelfer Farms, LLC.

SUMMARY:

Renewal of the existing agricultural land lease for approximately 114 acres located adjacent to the DeSoto County Wastewater Treatment Plant at 7728 S.E. Highway 31, Arcadia, Florida. The lease provides continued agricultural use of County-owned property, ensures ongoing site maintenance, and generates annual revenue for the County.

BACKGROUND:

The original Land Lease Agreement with Shelfer Farms, LLC was executed on December 15, 2020, for a five-year term with an option to renew for one additional five-year period upon mutual agreement of both parties.  Since execution, the property has remained in active agricultural use under the same tenant, providing consistent upkeep of the site and a steady source of revenue. The County and Shelfer Farms, LLC have agreed to exercise the renewal option, allowing the lease to continue seamlessly from the end of the current term for an additional five (5) years, under the same terms and conditions as the original Agreement.
