REQUESTED MOTION:
To approve the DeSoto County Transportation Plan for coordinated transportation methods for mental health transports.
SUMMARY:
The DeSoto County Transportation Plan outlines and coordinates transportation methods to a Crisis Stabilization Unit for individuals who are involuntarily Baker Acted or Marchman Acted. The plan also identifies responsibility for transportation to participating designated receiving facilities. The plan has been reviewed by Colonel James Vitali.
BACKGROUND:
As required by the Florida Mental Health Act, a Behavioral Health Transportation Plan was developed in 2017 and is being presented for readoption on August 11, 2026, to outline and coordinate transportation methods to a Crisis Stabilization Unit for individuals who are involuntarily Baker Acted or Marchman Acted. This plan is renewed every three years.
