REQUESTED MOTION:
To approve the grant award as described herein, and finding that the activities funded by the grant award directly and primarily relate to promoting tourism within the County.
SUMMARY:
Arcadia Main Street has completed the application for a Tourism Marketing Matching Grant. They are requesting $3,000. The Tourism Development Committee (TDC) has reviewed and approved the grant request.
BACKGROUND:
The Tourism program is funded by the Tourism Development Tax, established by Ordinance 2010-15. In 2013 the DeSoto Board of County Commissioners approved the Marketing Matching Grant Program. This was revised in 2016 and 2025. The maximum award is $3,000 and requires a 25% match by the recipient. The TDC reviews each application and makes a recommendation on the award. The TDC recommended the full $3,000 because it recognizes the importance of the Main Street program for creating a vibrant downtown.
