REQUESTED MOTION:
A motion to enter into the record this Development Review Report and all other competent substantial evidence presented at the hearing and make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners to adopt the findings and conclusions contained herein, and adopt the proposed Resolution.
SUMMARY:
The applicant has applied for a Special Exception use application (USE-0153-2023) to allow a Type IV Excavation within the Agricultural-10 (A-10) zoning district and Rural/Agricultural future land use on a +/- 95.92-acre property with a 52.87-acre excavation area - located at 3511 SW Dishong Ave, Arcadia, Florida, just north of CR 760.
BACKGROUND:
The site contains an existing sand and dirt mine with an access road and scale house, as well as an existing home. The site was previously granted excavation approval (EP-2006-16) for a 51-acre excavation area in January 2007, which expired January 23, 2014.
On November 6, 2023, the applicant submitted a Special Exception Use application and Preliminary Type IV Excavation application (USE-0153-2023 and USE-0154-2023) for a Type IV Excavation on the Subject Property.
On June 2, 2026, multiple variance requests made by the applicant for the Subject Property were approved by the Board of Adjustment (“BOA”), pursuant to BOA Resolution 2026-001.
