REQUESTED MOTION:
To approve the grant award as described herein, and finding that the activities funded by the grant award directly and primarily relate to promoting tourism within the County.
SUMMARY:
The Arcadia Rodeo Association applied for a $3,000 Marketing Matching Grant. The Tourism Development Council (TDC) reviewed the grant application and recommended the full $3,000 as it met the criteria.
BACKGROUND:
The Tourism program is funded by the Tourism Development Tax, established by Ordinance 2010-15. In 2013 the DeSoto Board of County Commissioners approved the Marketing Matching Grant program. This was revised in 2016 and 2025. The maximum award is $3,000 and requires a 25% match by the recipient. The TDC reviews each application and makes a recommendation on the award. The TDC recommends the full $3,000 award because it recognizes the Arcadia Rodeo events drive overnight stays in DeSoto County.
