SUMMARY:
At the September 24, 2026 meeting, EDAC voted unanimously to direct staff to survey employers about their staffing needs. Staff has begun the process.
BACKGROUND:
DeSoto is a member of the Sarasota-Manatee Area Manufacturers Association (SAMA). SAMA executive Director, Robb Harris and Florida Makes representative Allison Evanitz visited Worldwide Door Components and Crown Roof Tiles. They are working with a few manufacturers here and are planning an event soon. Also, Robb Harris was here to accept the proclamation for Manufacturing Awareness Month at the October 27, 2026 BOCC meeting.
