TITLE & DESCRIPTION:

title

Resolution / Consent to Voluntary Annexation of County Property into the Incorporated limits of the City of Arcadia.

body

REQUESTED MOTION:

Motion to adopt a Resolution consenting to the voluntary City of Arcadia annexation of a portion of a County owned and maintained drainage ditch as depicted in the attached survey.

SUMMARY:

Consent to annexation of a portion of County owned property.  The annexation does not transfer ownership or maintenance to the City of Arcadia.

BACKGROUND:

The City of Arcadia has requested the County’s consent to annex a portion of the County owned and maintained ditch that parallels property acquired by the DeSoto County School Board, located on NE Roan Street.  The City has annexed the property where the new high school is being constructed, and the two adjacent parcels located to the east of the High School site, also owned by the School District. The City of Arcadia entered into a Developer’s Agreement to serve Arcadia Village with central water service in April of 1990. The Agreement provides a provision for service and for future annexation into the City limits upon becoming contiguous.  The County Ditch is the only parcel that prevents the property from being contiguous.
